Getaway Chic: August Bank Holiday Mini Break Ideas

Despite it being August, it feels like summer is already over in the UK as the sunshine seems to be long gone. So, with the August bank holiday weekend still upon the horizon, there’s no better of a chance to getaway on a mini break and soak up the sun for a few days outside of the UK.

We love evoking upon some #FiorelliTravels whenever we get the chance and cheap European city breaks are the perfect way to spend a long weekend. One of our favourite destinations for a short break is Barcelona, so if you’re still figuring out how to spend the bank holiday, read on for a little Spanish inspiration.

What to See

1

Barcelona is the ultimate destination for the culture vulture, and has so many must see sights that you'll be spoilt for choice. No visit to Barcelona is complete without a trip to see the amazing Gaudi designed La Pedrera world heritage site.

Where to Stay
To make sure that you don’t miss a thing, it’s always a good idea to stay central when on a city break and one of our faves is the H1898 on the corner of La Rambla. The hotel’s architecture provides the perfect backdrop for your holiday selfies, and there’s even a great rooftop pool where you can sink a few cocktails as you kick back and worship the sun.

What to Do
For us no trip is complete without hitting the local shops and it’s always fun to discover local trends. Barcelona has lots of winding streets which are filled with boutiques, and the espadrille store is a must visit.

Where to Eat
It’s always fun to sample the local cuisine when you’re away on holiday and Barcelona’s offerings leave you spoilt for choice. One of our favourite eats is a little restaurant called Grup Alba which combines the offering of a chic French brasserie with New York, which is perfect for when you’re already full to the brim with tapas!
